About AMULET by D
Since 2014, AMULET by D has been creating meaningful amulets for everyday warriors. By combining ancient metalsmithing techniques with modern gems, AMULET by D jewelry is intended to bring joy and strength to each wearer. Some pieces incorporate beadwork, while many are inscribed with inspirational words or symbols. Every piece is handcrafted in Washington D.C. by Doris Chou-Durfee, with a focus on using ethically sourced gems and recycled fine metals whenever possible. Custom orders are available.

About Doris Chou-Durfee
Doris creates jewelry with the belief that it has a beneficial effect beyond the visible. Just as people have assigned protective qualities to amulets throughout history, each AMULET by D is designed to enhance the wearer’s beauty and feelings of personal well-being.
Prior to establishing her Washington D.C. studio, Doris worked in Hong Kong and Beijing for ten years, where she was inspired by the traditions and crafts encountered in her travels. Over time, her growing love of metalwork and gemstones led her to switch to jewelry-making full time. In 2015, she received a graduate certificate in jewelry design from the prestigious Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in Beijing, China. Doris has also studied metalsmithing techniques at Jewelry Arts in New York City since 2013.
Doris selects high quality, natural gemstones and metals, with an emphasis on partnering with small businesses ethically sourcing stones. She advocates responsible jewelry making practices and maintains a low toxicity studio.
Doris donates a portion of AMULET by D proceeds to worthy causes. Past recipient organizations include the ACLU, Human Rights Campaign, Equal Justice Initiative and Stop AAPI Hate. A mother of two, Doris is an avid cook and eater, and a martial artist and competitive rower in her free time.
